So there’s this band WAVVES – some blog I saw them posted on said they were like Eat Skull meets Panda Bear which is a pretty terrible description but I mean maybe it does more for you than it does for me. Dude does a lot of really noisy, really well-written and shambolic punk songs about beaches and shit. It’s lo-fi, balearic, AND can sort of be compared to Animal Collective, so dude has come extremely correct on a number of fronts here. The full-length is out soon on De Stijl recs, a paragon of quality control that has released excellent records by Hototogisu and others. They’re also putting out a record by all-girl UK noise-pop outfit PENS that I’m psyched on. Plus they’re based in Saint Paul. Give these dudes your money.
The guy behind Wavves also plays in a softer beachdrone outfit called FANTASTIC MAGIC that’s worth checking out. You can grab the latest Wavves 7″ and check out a lot of sweet writeups about gangsta rap over at his blog, GHOST RAMP.

If you don’t know this past weekend we were in Wisconsin partying with our friends DIAMONDS and OCD AUTOMATIC! Who happen to be coming to play HONEYMOON 16 this Friday… which by the way is GOTH themed. YES! More on that later but the whole weekend was quite an amazing trip.

We are heading back to Wisconsin this weekend! With us on the trip is blog contributor, Travis Stearns and our photographer Alex Uncapher. Friday we are in Madison for Discotech and Saturday we are in Milwaukee so if you’re a Wisconsiner or Wisconsinette come on out and party with us.
Tomorrow we are playing a cool party at first avenue and I highly encourage people to come.
Basically every hour a crew of people completely redecorate first ave and add props, decor, lights from different eras.
So for the first hour or so when we play first ave will be disco town with disco balls and funky shit. Then when get cryphy goes on the place will be 80’s old school hip hop with ghetto blasters or something. You get the idea! But it should be fun.
Then Friday and Saturday we are back in the lovely state of Wisconsin partying with OCD Automatic and Asher from the Glamour. Madison and Milwaukee here we come! More on that soon.
