Honeymoon 14
Sunday, September 21, 2008

Thanks to everyone that came out for my birthday and Honeymoon last Friday. It was a lot of fun as always. Great to see people dressed up like me. Great to see all the biker bros too. Above is the winner for best dressed but he never claimed his prizes at the end of the night… bummer they were cool cat posters.
More party photos on our flickrrrrr.

BLACK MONDAY
Monday, September 15, 2008

Hi world! Are you ready for the stock market crash? If not, perhaps plot a trip to the gorgeous Gulf of Mexico while cracking open that paperback copy of Infinite Jest you’ve been meaning to read. More like FINITE Jest, right? Right?
Blood On The Wall – Lightning Song
Blood On The Wall are a band from New York I ignored until this summer because people always told me they were a no-frills, back-to-basics rock band. I love frills and I hate basics so I was all like fuuuuck that shit but LOL they’re actually good! Listen to this or don’t, it will either way be one of those things that still gets sentimentality plays on me and my friends’ iTunes a year from now.
Confined to the psych ward for a 48 hour period following a poorly executed suicide attempt, a 6 and a half foot tall gay sociopath developed a crush on me. In between inappropriate and unnerving questions about my sex life or indecent requests to come to the bathroom with him, he’d talk about music, and grin with genuine pleasure when I’d mention Stockhausen or Glenn Branca. When it wasn’t time to eat, I’d hide in the back room and hit major chords on an out of tune piano they kept around for occupational therapy. When he found me there he ordered me aside and proceeded to sing “By This River” by Brian Eno three times, one after the other, while staring at me meaningfully.
The Chromatics may or may not have sampled this.

Graphic design by GRANDPEOPLE
I love Skatebard. I’m glad to see him on the DFA album, Nobody Knows Anything. So anyway I suggest you pick it up if you haven’t already but I know it has been out for a grip. Anyway I got to listening to it finally. This Skatebard track stuck out to me. (Also all the Moon Unit tracks by Mogg are too hot to touch. Part 1… WTF!?)
