If you didn’t know and you are 21+, my monthly show Hotel is this friday.
Hotel has been a consistently fun night and the staff at the KCK is awesome. Also the Kitty Cat Klub is prolly the coolest venue in town. If they would make it 18+ we would have some totally insane parties there.
So this month we have So Gold (see below for more info) and DJ TRL aka Tom Loftus who runs the label and message boardModern Radio So Gold said that he’s going to do some live remixing in Ableton and Tom just has great taste in music (I also hear that he’s a hit with the ladies) Come down and see what everyone is talking about! Triple Caff Drink Specials, Photo Booth, and fancy djs!
Local pretty boy So Gold has been making music for a hot minute now. However it took him until two months ago to approach anyone in the city to book him for a show. Which is kinda weird, because he’s been here for like two years now, but anyway David is a pretty cool dude who likes good music and knows how to party…uhhh…
Here are three of his popular remixes for your downloading and listing pleasure
Wow so last Friday was honestly insane. Sorry I was lacking on the pictures until now but I had two hard drive crashes causing me to lose all of my music and photos. Not to mention my flash on my camera broke… not only that but we were also in Philly playing the 2×4 Video Premiere party. Yeah you want more excuses? Anyway getting online to blog has been kind of hard. But we are back! Hello! WASSSUP!! BUDWEISER!! HEHE SILLY!!
Back to last Friday… it was wild and crazy kids. We teamed up with tons of local people to pop off the one year anniversary of Honeymoon. It really popped off too. I think it was our biggest Honeymoon yet. I know I always say that but I mean it every time. Thanks to everyone for coming out and honestly thanks to everyone for their support over the last year. People were glowing in the dark from left to right. The winner of the best costume was this girl in the suit and hat…
Hey girl stop holding peace signs and get in touch with us so we can give you your prizes because we were all lyke hey girl you won and you were all lyke PEACE!!!
Also yeah my mom was at Honeymoon. My mom… that’s kind of weird right? Not really she is a party animal and she was takin party pixx all night so that’s pretty kewl.
Again thanks to everyone that helped. You know who you are. You kick ass. We have a lot planned for the next year. Also we have a lot of Honeymoon X VS collab shirts left so please hit up VS social Standard in Minneapolis to pick some of those up or come to any of our events as we will be selling them… or giving them away for noodz.
So Electric is tonight and we are giving away a free pair of Paul Van Dyk tickets at 1AM with a ton of other shit. So get your booty to barfly. I am deff playing Jesse McCartney’s song Leaving. It is just too sweet.
YAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also please check out our events for more to come!
Hey boppers, I don’t think Spandau Ballet is quite as known to be cool as they should be. Almost all of their songs went straight to number one on the Molly charts. “True”, their only single that hit pretty big here is O.K. but they have so much more to offer the female emotion spectrum. Emotions such as desire, flattery, sexiness, impressed feelings, determination, bastardry, not just “Oh my god, I got tears in this beautiful vegitarian quiche you made me from the vegitables you grew from the tears that I cried the last time you sang me this song.” This will make you sweat or make you drip sweat.
So I’ve been in Philly the past four days or say and my hard drive crashed causing me to lose all of everything… even my soul.
Anyway I figured I’d post on this to give you all an update. Friday is So Electric at Barfly. Drink specials as always and all that good stuff.
Please RSVP at: http://www.soelectricparty.com (Flyer to come… I know we are late on this one). We have Sound In Motion in the front room and DJ Bach / MOONGOONS in the back room.
So Electric – Friday July 25th
10-2AM / 18 Plus / $5 or $3 w/RSVP
Front Room: SOUND IN MOTION
Back Room: DJ BACH & MOONGOONS
That my friends is a black… light. Yes I know cool. You can probably find them at your nearest Spencer’s gifts but tonight you’ll be finding them at Honeymoon in the VIP room. Wow. Phenomenal. People keep asking us, MOONGOONS!? WHAT DO I WEAR TONIGHT THAT IS GLOW IN THE DARK!? Well white glows pretty hard under a black light so wear white or neon. Remember there are prizes for best dressed so maybe just a white tee isn’t the best idea?
Look at this interesting tattoo I found via google. Maybe you could get a nice tat for the party?
Hmmm… I wonder if I’d ever get a tattoo like that? Would you? I think I would much rather do something like that in photoshop. I remember I used to photoshop lip rings onto my face back in the day. Do you think I should bring that back? Did you ever do any photoshop edits of yourself for the internet because you were trying to find yourself?
NEWAYZ. Tonight is going to be a lot fun and you know it. With that said these tracks should keep it easy until the party gets sleazy. See you all out .
Hall & Oates – Can’t go for that
& thanks to Naughty Wood for reminding me of this courtesy of Dance Quest.
Julie Brown was like a comedian/actress. She wore pretttty awesome shit… Her songs speak to me.
This song is from Earth Girls are Easy, where she played a supporting roll to Gina Dumbass, who sucks.
Samantha Fox… I was up all night one time and one of her videos played. It was a pretty shitty/awesome video “I Wanna Have Some Fun”. Sleep deprived, I’m pretty easily moved. All of her songs are about sex, and there are tons of n00dz of her on the internet. Dayummmmz.
2 young girls. They stole a bunch of music from a bunch of dudes and put it on their myspace page. I got this from their myspace page like a year ago. I think this is V.2.0, after the stolen version. If they would have just asked the dudes if they could just “remix it” or “cover it” things would be A-O-K. Yeah… someone was so passionate about what a fucking nerd of discovery they were they made a web page about it. What a bunch of taddle tale Cosbys.
Sonido Lasser Drakar is a group from Mexico. They met when the lead singer Tina escaped from prison. She met every one of the other band members on the way back home. They all have different skills that came in handy for when the brutal Mexican officials came after them. WHEN THEY WERE JUST 2 YEARS OLD. Maybe that’s why they’re famous. Or maybe only the “they’re from Mexico” part is true. Choose wisely.
Too Much Love with DJ STV SLV from The Hood Internet was a really good time. Steve killed it and honestly can a midi controller with a sample of soulja boy’s “you” ever get old? No. Not when you’re wasted. Enjoy!
Also yeah… Friday. FREE DRINKS and a FREE RIDE. You have nothing to worry about.
We have the Honeymoon 1 year anniversary party with the Get Cryphy crew this friday. The theme is Glow In The Dark (i promise we had the idea before kanye) We are doing a pre-party at VS.(myspace) in uptown with free booze (courtesy of PBR and Triple Caff), giveaways, and more. Then we will be doing a mass bike ride/bus ride to the VIP room to surf the cosmic rays. If you don’t have a bike, Overproof will be providing free bus rides for everyone.
here’s a fairtilizer playlist that combines all my current faves of bassline, dubstep, and dancehall
it’s put together by Tim Turbo and seen. (who claim to have a non-hippie reggae and dancehall stuff)
Tim Turbo also runs a pretty cool blog called Cyan Wait
Anyways check it out b/c it’s kinda awesome.
starting sometime soon, i’m going to start doing a feature called “samwel’s favorites” i’ve convinced sam to give me his favorite tracks every week with a short description of why he likes them so much. he actually listens to some cool stuff, so i’m excited to see what he has to offer.
Whoa little duuuuudes. It’s time for da reggae-dub to pon de riva till zion on the banana boat or some shit.
Check this duuuude out. He looks like Dave Chappell as Tyrone the crack-head.

Well here’s his sawng y’all. I heard it on Radio K’s “Rude Radio” show on Sunday and I had to look for it by searching super hard trying to think of if it’s bing ging or bang gang or beng geng that he says and appearantly it’s beng geng. Whatevz.
Murs – Bad Man
I used to tell boys that this song is about them, but that I was like Murs’ Charactor. “I never said we were together baby.” Alright so this isn’t fullly reggae but it might as well be. I lovvveeee the little tonky blonky keyboard shit in this. They are sampling Mighty Diamonds’ “4000 years” which doesn’t sound half as good so I’m not even going to post that snap.
I read on the internet that the band Blank Dogs is literally a joke. Some punk rock guy in a record store making Joy Division throwbacks to poke fun at hipster Ian Curtis worship. You listen to it and you either picture a few guys laughing hysterically every time they wrest minor chords out of their shitty synthesizers, or you picture a few guys who are as nervous, awkward, and weirdly joyful as their records are.
Regardless of how seriously you are or are not supposed to take this, it’s pretty accessible stuff. The songs float in and around bits of keyboard, drum machine, and jangly guitars that put them right next to No Age and Times New Viking on the “indie” side of this whole lo-fi thing. They give all their releases away on their blog, so what’s it going to hurt you to listen to it, really?
Sounds like Chrome or the Sleepers. Grab “On Two Sides”. It’s getting a legit release on Troubleman Unlimited, which also puts out Glass Candy and Titus Andronicus.
