I was up early today because of a summer cold :( So I made good use of my time and found a new bike frame and started the process of changing out all my parts. Pics to come. I also headed over to Cuizinier’s The Genevan Heathen’s blog Sensitive Touching (best blog name ever? edit: i’m a idiot and thought that the genevan heathen and cuizinier were the same person, they are not)

It sounds like he is having a lot of the same problems that we were having here in MPLS with summer taking foooooooreeeeeeeevvvvvvvveeeerrrrr to happen. Anyways, he posted a Fairtilizer playlist for these guys from Alabama called G-Side and they are AMAZING. I tried to rip some of the songs off of their myspace, but I kinda suck at the internet.

Instead, here is the Fairtilizer playlist
G-Side – They Mean Business

(edit: ooooOOoOoOOOo, i figured out how to embed the playlist on the page!!!)

So far i’ve really enjoyed Strictly Business (feat. Mali Boi and June Bug), Kill Yoself, and Feel Like I Look (explicit)

PANTS? WHO NEEDS ‘EM?

Vita.mn, our favorite local Arts & Entertainment rag, threw its latest super sexy summer Poolside Fashion Show at the Calhoun Beach Club last week.
Jahna Peloquin of Eclecticoiffeur went to Cliche to pull a hand full of super recent ANTHEM HEART clothing designs and remixes to style into the show. Ahhh poolside fashion: pants…who needs em! I heard there was a “local celebrity” pool toss planned for after the show, too bad the MOONGOONS weren’t available.

honeymoonxipic

So last Friday was Honeymoon XI and it was our biggest Honeymoon yet! It keeps growing and growing and growing! Thanks to everyone that came out! It was deff a wild ass party party party. Playing Mortal Kombat into face down ass up? Haha why not? The pictures will be up tomorrow we are just waiting for our new intern, SHOUTOUT INES KOVACEVIC to hook us up with some stuff. People were bloody and messy. I was impressed with the costumes. Here is one of them:

AJ Uhrich. For more of his pictures check out here.

Hmm what else has been happening? Well this Tuesday we are at the Triple Rock with IAMMINTCONDITION playing some disco and whatever else we can scrounge up. Triple Double is always a good time. Then Friday we have So Electric at BARFLY with our new drink the… TOOTHJUICE. I will get to that later this week but if you are reading this and want to RSVP already do so here: http://www.soelectricparty.com. Free drinks to anyone that RSVPS so … yeah I’d do it.

I haven’t really been checking out a lot of new music lately. However I have been working on some tracks so those should be posted soon at 320 free for your download pleasure. Go to his myspace right now and download it all.

More to come soon. I have a busy design week ahead of me.

MAKE FAKE BLOOD

Wednesday, June 18, 2008

So in anticipation to Friday’s Honeymoon themed: FAKE BLOOD I have collected some links that will help you prepare. Remember there are prizes for the “best dressed” which probably means the bloodiest person in this case so we are expecting some top notch “outfits.” If you have any links of your own please feel free to post some in the comments.

Kind of a weird one… why would someone tape this on the TV?

This video is pretty informative and fun:

I was reading the Curb Crawlers Blog as I do every Wednesday morning at 8:30am and I came a across this great set of interviews with all the producers of “The Carter III”

My fav quote so far, in reference to “Shoot Me Down” feat. D. Smith (produced by D. Smith)

“I was going to Hot Beats for a session and Lil Wayne was there. My business partner, Stacy Barthe, actually knew Wayne and his people, and they had heard the track a couple days prior to me meeting [Wayne] and told him about it. So I went in the room and saw him and the first thing he said to me was, “Thank you.” He hadn’t even heard the beat yet. So I played the beat and it was probably like 15 people in the room. He heard the beat and kicked everybody out except for like two people, the engineer, and myself. He smoked two blunts, asked for a cup of hot tea and just went in.”

You can read all the rest of the interviews at the jumpoff below
Lil Wayne: Behind Tha Carter III

This is something that James should have posted, but I think he is too involved with a woman to get on the internet theeezzz dayzzz, it’s cool man, we are here to pick up your slack

TONIGHT

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

Tonight we are playing the store opening of VS SOCIAL STANDARD from 10-11PM. If you’re in Minneapolis stop by sometime for free PBR tall boys and Vodka Redbulls. Tons of giveaways and I feel like playing a lot of Lil Wayne so drop by and hang out. Also heading to the triple rock afterwards for some two for ones!

If you’re not from Minnesota well then at least enjoy this track… or do the same if you are…

Disco Oddities (first post ah!)

Monday, June 16, 2008

So, hello out there, I have been prompted into posting! And I’ve got some fun disco related stuff that I’ve been quite enjoying as of late. Lets get to it:

dennis parker

first up, Dennis Parker – Like an Eagle

Dennis Parker apparently was an adult film star in NY in the 70s, in addition to that he also made one amazing disco record in 1978. He then committed suicide in 85 after contracting AIDs, sad, but what a legacy to leave.

I recently was able to check out Quiet Village here in SF, it took a while for the show to get going but once it did we all had a great time… One of my favorite Quiet Village tracks, from 2005 but whatever, has a great cinematic feel, i’m just in that kind of mood: Quiet Village – Pillow Talk

thrill$ n grillz

And finally, a friend of mine, commodore 69, recently put together this remix of a certain well known disco track.. I heard him play it out last week, it actually sounds pretty awesome on a big system.. check it out Thrill$ N grillz – disco inferno a side note, its not actually disco inferno, that might have taken it too far.

I am the only one that blogs anymore

Photos from After Party by Wes Winship

Yep… funny when you stack a blog list full of contributors so you don’t have to worry about updating it everyday and then somehow it still doesn’t get updated. Sad =/. Apologies for the people that came to check it out and there hasn’t been any action. A bunch of cool shit has went down in the past week. Working on a new track, a remix, and we played a really fun ravester after party last Saturday. Thanks to everyone that came out for that and shared their drinks.

Well I mean I feel like I owe everyone something for not updating this thing for a week so here is what I’ve been playing out and jamming to this past week…

Enjoy…

I’ve really been into HiJack lately. Pretty funny… looking at his logo it reminds me of our neighborhood watch logo but the cartoon version. Like if someone made a MOONGOONS cartoon that would be the main character. I’ve seen a lot people using that watch logo lately. Oh wellzz we are all just a bunch of creeps livin in a hi-teck digital world.

HiJack – Party People (MediaFire)

Nic Sarno – Watch This (HiJack RMX) (MediaFire)

Next up I’ve been into Jesse Rose and his remix of Claude VonStroke’s whistler. Soooo catchy.
Check out his other tracks on myspace good shit and he’s on Dubsided ;) .

Claude VonStroke – The Whistler (Jesse Rose Mix) (MediaFire)

So now that you’re whistling Let’s take Drugs…

Thanks to RedThreat for this one.

George Morel, SPJ – Let’s Take Drugs (Cedric Gervais Remix) (MediaFire)

Yeah so again apologies for not updating. This week is a crazy week… including HONEYMOON XI so be checking back. The new t-shirt comes out this week and it is going to be bloody.

Some Chunes / Friday Events!

Sorry for the lack of posts this week. A few of our contributors didn’t have internet connections for a while. I was on a crazy project with mad deadlines and so this little poor bloggy blog was neglected. But it’s Friday and I just wrapped up the project so fuxxx yes.

Anyway a lot going on tonight in lovely Minneapolis. First off voted number one DJ trio of our generation playing some of the most ridiculous remixes, cuts, and sitcom tracks of our generation – DRUNKEN HOT GIRLS are playing at Barfly from 11-2AM. Guaranteed to be drunk, hot, and with a girl so come check it out.

Then also Steven Bloodbath is jamming with DJ JONATHAN ACKERMAN at the Kitty Cat Klub . Party is free and goes from 10-2. Steven will also be playing TOO MUCH LOVE tomorrow. Kind of interested in hearing that noiseeee. kewl. Here is the flyer for that.

I haven’t been listening to much new music or dance music lately but I have been listening to some other good stuff. Take a listen.

So Electric went off!

Tuesday, June 3, 2008

Last Friday was awesome! It was our first So Electric at Barfly and it popped off! By the end of the night there was a really solid crowd and overall I was really impressed with the venue. I heard a lot of bad things about Barfly but I had tons of fun and plenty to do. It is a great venue in all honesty. I mean fog machines and 2 for 1 drinks?? Hah that’s like the story of my life. Anyway thanks to everyone that came out. We look forward to seeing you again next month. Big ups to Sound in Motion for the promotion and all the front room djs for holding it down. Also big ups to Preston Craig from http://www.kissatlanta.com for helping us kick start the night. As always he killed it. Photos uploaded above!
