I live here in Minneapolis and DJ and am homies with the young Moon Goon bols and do graphic design and help run Burlesque of North America. That’s Friday May 23rd at First Avenue in both the Main Room AND the V.I.P. room! One enormous night of dope music. This is a HUGE event for Minneapolis, as we’re finally bringing all of these fresh weekly / monthly parties together as ONE, bringing all of this music together for one night, and bringing all of these ridiculously dope DJs to town to entertain your ass off.

Although nothing too amazing can be said for the Horrors, or any UK rock phenomenon for that matter, I do think their Horror Asparagus Stories, Cave Club/The Set Up DJ activities, and this remix of Pogo I just found are good endeavors. The remix acknowledges that the track has been overly remixed before and I think would fit nicely in a Cut Copy mix…probably squashed next to some Shep Pettibone remix. Maybe? Either way, the eerie vibes belong on the Moon Goons blog.

Here we have one of Minneapolis’ own, I Self Divine. Most of his album Self Destruction was pretty good I must say. I’ll always have a spot in my polluted cigarette heart for local hip hop. Most of my friends and I grew up on that.
Well as of tomorrow we… The Moon Goons… are heading down to Los Angeles for a four day party streak. Big ups to BULI!M!ATRON! and Local Tourist for all the love with setting up these parties. Honeymoon IX was insane. It was our biggest yet! We had to turn people down because we had reached capacity. That is oh so glorious. Sorry for those that missed the party and thanks to everyone that came. Blaqstarr killed it in every way possible including singing over the tracks. Sorry if anyone got hit in the face by the prizes but I think it was worth it. I gave away a huge super soaker. I hope that is in good hands now.
In preparation of the Pool Party we are doing a fun in-store performance at Robot Love from 3-6PM. We have special guest GENERAL TSO playing some tracks as well as The Goons throwing it down. Do you know what Bassline is? I listen to this song passing out on their lawns. Negra Estrella means “Blaq Star.” I don’t really know what the rest of the song means. It’s a really sweet song though.
This song is what I listen to the next morning after we realize we’re at the wrong house and the owners shot my sister and I’m trying to escape. Nahhhh, this song is from the film Wussup Rockers, which sucked. The soundtrack, the young hot spanish boys getting bj’s on the constant, and the creeeeepy cameo from Jeremy Scott is what saved the movie for me.

I just watched 187 again today for the first time in a long time. I can’t tell you how much I still love that movie. Everything in that film is completely immaculate.
